Everything your family needs. Nothing they'll have to hunt for.

Dad is Dead is more than a document vault. It's a system that knows when to release your information and who to call.

Core features

Proof-of-life check-insKEY DIFFERENTIATOR

Dad is Dead periodically sends you a simple check-in by email or SMS. You confirm you're still here by clicking a link. If you stop responding after multiple reminders, your custodians are automatically notified and granted access to your vault. This is what makes us different from just a cloud storage folder.

Custodian access controls

A custodian is a person you designate — a family member, attorney, or trusted friend — who will be notified and given access to your documents when you pass. You control who they are, what they can see, and in what priority order they're notified. They cannot access anything while you're alive unless you explicitly allow it.

Encrypted document storage

Upload wills, insurance policies, advance directives, financial statements, and any other important files. Sensitive document types are encrypted at rest with an additional layer of AES-256 encryption, keyed by a secret managed in Azure Key Vault. Every upload is protected in transit via HTTPS.

Microsoft EntraID login

We use Microsoft's enterprise identity platform for authentication. We never store or see your password. Your account is protected by the same security standards used by Fortune 500 companies.

Always accessible

Your vault is available 24/7 from any device with an internet connection. Your custodians get access the moment they're supposed to — no delays, no complicated processes.

Granular visibility controls

Control exactly what each custodian can see. Hide sensitive items, make some visible immediately, and set others to become visible only after death. You're always in charge.

What you can store

Every category is organized, searchable, and controlled by you. Custodians see only what you allow them to see.
